It's no secret that I just can't get enough of Guy Fieri and his Food Network TV show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." Every Friday night my DVR will record an entire batch of episodes so I can watch Guy travel across America in search of some of the best "greasy spoon" eateries.
Enter Hillbilly Hot Dogs! This particular place in Lesage, WV caught my attention on one Triple D episode and I never forgot about it. When planning this trip I immediately marked this as our dinner stop on the way to Kentucky. After all.....who wouldn't drive 30 minutes out of their way to eat some fabulous weenies?
I'm a huge fan of the Famous Hot Weiner restaurant back home in Hanover, PA. Hot dogs served with their famous recipe chili sauce is a must have meal at least once a month. But I have to admit that the Hillbilly Hot Dogs menu certainly puts them to shame! I was in hot dog Heaven.
I doubt anyone will be surprised to know that Jenesa and I ordered five hot dogs from the menu to share for dinner. We figured we could wash them all down with bourbon once we got to Lexington, KY later in the evening.
If you can't tell from the YouTube clip above this place is a total redneck dump! And, we loved it! It's got the junk. It's got the rust. It's got the hillbilly atmosphere. And, it's got the weenies!
